2/6/2008

Line-Up of National Retailers Create Shopping Destination

CAPE CORAL, FL — Construction is complete. Shelves are stocked. And shoppers are ready to discover hidden treasures at the opening of Coral Walk, Cape Coral, Fla.’s newest shopping destination. On February 9, North American Properties will officially open the doors to Lee County’s next generation of premier retailing. Situated on approximately 30 acres at the intersection of Pine Island and Pondella Roads, Coral Walk delivers some of the most recognizable names in retail and dining to this Southwest Florida commercial corridor.

“With every development, we seek to deliver quality retail and dining to retail nodes primed for new development,” explains Shawn McIntyre, partner, North American Properties. “Coral Walk brings to life our vision. The grand opening festivities on February 9 will allow everyone in Cape Coral and beyond to experience the premier shopping environment now available in this community.”

The “Treasure Hunt” grand opening festivities will dig-up a day of shopping, dining and fun for all ages. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on February 9, this community-wide spectacular will bring together residents of Cape Coral and North Fort Myers to celebrate the new shopping center. A full schedule of activities is planned; including a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., a live radio remote from Gator Country 101.9 at noon, prize giveaways as well as activities for children of all ages. Food will be provided by Chili’s. Beverages will be provided by SuperTarget.

“The diversity and quality of tenants we’ve lined-up for Coral Walk will certainly enhance the area’s amenity base,” continues McIntyre. The anchor tenant line-up for Coral Walk includes such household names as SuperTarget, Staples and Sports Authority. Other tenants include:
Starbucks Coffee Company
Allstate Insurance
AT&T
Great Clips
Direct Flooring
Jackson Hewitt Tax Preparation
Mattress Firm
Prodiso Kitchen
ProFiles Salon

The retail center will also offer the following dining options:
Panera Bread
Chili’s
Olive Garden
Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries

One outparcel and 9,000 square feet of small shop space are still available at Coral Walk.

“The project exemplifies the synergy achieved when a municipality and developer work in partnership to bring to life a joint vision of quality development for the community,” explains Dale Hafele, partner, North American Properties. “Coral Walk reflects the City’s Pine Island Corridor vision interpreted and implemented. From the pedestrian connections and amenities; such as benches, trellises and a fountain; to the $1 million landscape package that includes 46 mature Royal Palms, this shopping center is second to none in the history of Cape Coral.”

In 2004, the City of Cape Coral adopted the Pine Island Road Master Plan designating Pine Island Road as a major retail corridor. North American Properties has worked closely with the City of Cape Coral Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council to ensure that Coral Walk aligns with the vision of the overlay district. Coral Walk is one of the first completed major retail developments since the adoption of the Master Plan.
