Investment Property Accountant


Overview of Job Description

The Investment Property Accountant is responsible for the accounting for numerous investment entities as well as land and commercial properties. The position reports to an accounting manager and will collaborate with both internal and external business partners to provide accounting, reporting, and project services for various properties and investment entities across the NAP organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

In order to perform daily duties and responsibilities, the Investment Property Accountant must:

  • Prepare quarterly consolidation of real estate investor/investment portfolios
  • Prepare quarterly consolidated fair market value (FMV) financial reporting
  • Analyze information from 3rd party Investment Advisor and determine necessary and appropriate accounting treatment
  • Determine and monitor cash requirements for numerous entities on a recurring basis
  • Analyze revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities and consistently apply proper accounting
  • Prepare reconciliations for cash, receivable, payables, accruals, and various debt obligations
  • Prepare and post journal entries and cash receipts into the general ledger
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules as required
  • Analyze financial statements; provide variance analysis and comments as appropriate
  • Prepare reports for lenders and respond to requests for additional information
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and quarterly reforecasts
  • Facilitate, monitor and support loan compliance and lender reporting requirements
  • Special projects as assigned, often of a confidential, complex and/or urgent nature
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting Preferred)
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Consolidation experience preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Demonstrated ability to assume ownership, work independently, and achieve results
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
