Overview of Job Description

The Engineer Level I is an entry level position into the commercial building maintenance industry.  The primary objective of this position is to achieve a working knowledge and able to repair lighting, plumbing and upkeep of the general appearance of a Class A Office Building.

Duties and Responsibilities

In order to perform daily duties and responsibilities, the Maintenance Engineer I - Colony Square must:

  • Work in a manner that is safe for oneself and others.
  • Maintain and repair lighting fixtures within the property.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures within the property.
  • Assist of Engineers in duties or projects as needed.
  • Will assume other duties in the event of another employee’s absence.
  • Complete all tenant generated work orders the same day before leaving the property for the day.
  • Complete all Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) by due date.
  • Maintain work area in a professional looking manner.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times while on property, even when not on the clock.
  • Turn in all paper work within a timely manner.
  • Keep company issued hand tools in good working condition, responsible of replacement of lost or damaged tools caused by neglect or miss use.
  • Reports to the Chief Engineer

Qualifications and Requirements

The Engineer Level I must be a self-motivator who requires little supervision to complete assigned tasks via Preventive Maintenance and Tenant Work Orders.  The person must possess good verbal communication and writing skills to enable employee to successfully complete work orders and communicate with tenants. 

The person must be in adequate physical condition to perform safely the duties outlined above.  Position requires ability to move, set up and operate a high lift, as well as considerable amount of time spent on ladders, operating power tools, working safely with live electrical circuits. 

Person must keep the Chief and /or Assistant Chief Engineer informed to status of projects and any problem that may affect the day-to-day operation of the building.  

Person must be willing to work flextime, overtime, and weekend projects.  This position is based on a 40-hour work week, working Tuesday through Saturday.

Compensation and Benefits

This position will include an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, life, and 401(k). It will provide a competitive salary based on the candidate’s experience.

Pay is hourly and based on skill level.

This position is non-exempt.
