Multi-family Accountant

Overview of Job Description

North American Properties (NAP)​ is seeking a candidate for the Multi-family Accountant position at the Cincinnati office of NAP. NAP is an active real estate firm in the region and across multiple states with excess of $200 million in local projects. The Multi0family Accountant will work with the property management team, multi-family accounting team (other Accounts and Controller(s)) to provide accounting, reporting, and project services for various residential properties and investment entities.

Duties and Responsibilities

In order to perform daily duties and responsibilities, the Multi-family Accountant must:

• Prepare and post journal entries and cash receipts into the general ledger
• Analyze invoices for proper coding and ensure the cash position supports the payment of invoices on a weekly basis
• Work closely with the property management team to identify and resolve resident payment issues
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations for cash, receivables, payables, accruals, notes payable and other debt obligations
• Analyze revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities and ensure proper accounting is consistently applied
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules as required 
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
• Prepare quarterly reforecasts, quarterly distributions to partners, and annual operating budgets 
• Prepare reports for various lenders on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis
• Preparation and analysis of Fair Market Value (FMV) of properties 
• Determine and monitor cash requirements for numerous entities on a recurring basis
• Other responsibilities and projects as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Strong understanding of accounting practice and its application
• 3+ years of accounting/finance experience
• Experience with Real Estate accounting is preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems and take ownership of processes and results
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
