Senior Operations Account


Overview of Job Description

The Senior Operations Accountant will work with the Property Management team, partner with our Human Resources group, the operations accounting team, Controller, and Finance leadership. They will support the compensation and benefits programs and processes for all NAP entities, subsidiaries, and personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

In order to perform daily duties and responsibilities, the Senior Operations Account must:

  • Provide and perform accounting for NAP operating companies, including preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analysis
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations including cash accounts, receivables, payables, accruals, notes payable and other debt obligation
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules according to close schedule
  • Preparation of dashboards/reporting for the presentation of monthly executive-level operating company results
  • Work directly with partners to prepare quarterly reforecasts and annual operating budgets
  • Prepare annual consolidations of operating entities.
  • Identifying and develop improvement opportunities within existing processes
  • Prepare monthly invoices to properties and NAP subsidiaries from operating companies
  • Preparation and posting of journal entries and cash receipts into the general ledger
  • Analyze invoices for proper coding and ensure the cash position supports the payment of invoices on a timely basis
  • Analyze revenues, expenses, receivables, payables, and accruals to ensure the application of proper accounting
  • Determine and monitor cash requirements for numerous entities on a recurring basis
  • Special projects as assigned, often of a confidential, complex, and/or urgent nature
  • All general ledger functions related to payroll processing, including balancing accounts
  • Coordinate and manage efforts with Human Resources group to reconcile and account for payroll activity (compensation and benefit
  • Serve as accounting point-of-contact with third-party payroll service provider, and subject matter expert for use and development of related system interfaces and integration opportunities (as it relates to accounting)

The Senior Operations Accountant must be deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and a team player with a positive attitude who demonstrates flexibility.  The ideal candidate must have the ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from management to accomplish objectives. 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and Economics
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and their practical application
  • 5+ years accounting/finance experience
  • Experience with Real Estate accounting is preferred
  • Experience with multi-state jurisdiction entities with multiple divisions and subsidiaries
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Demonstrated ability to assume ownership, solve problems, work independently and achieve results
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience in Sage Intacct is preferred
