Senior Property Accountant


Overview of Job Description

The Senior Property Accountant will work with the Property and Asset Management teams, Finance leadership, and owners’ representatives for various acquisitions.

Duties and Responsibilities

In order to perform daily duties and responsibilities, the Senior Property Accountant must:


  • Promote and support NAP's vision
  • Support the strategic direction for both the property and for NAP
  • Provide and perform diverse property and operational accounting services
  • Collaborate regularly with Accounting team to share best practices
  • Determine and monitor cash requirements for property on a recurring basis
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations including cash accounts, receivables, payables, accruals, notes payable and other debt obligations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules as required
  • Analyze financial statements on a monthly basis, providing variance comments and similar analysis as appropriate and necessary
  • Prepare reports for the lender and JV partners on monthly, quarterly or annual basis and respond to requests for additional information
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and quarterly reforecasts
  • Assist in construction management process
  • Oversight of the accounts receivable/collections process
  • Preparation of annual CAM and Opex reconciliations
  • All other duties as assigned by the Property Manager

The Senior Property Accountant must be deadline driven, detail oriented, and a team player and possess a positive attitude and demonstrated flexibility. The ideal candidate will also have residential real estate experience and the ability to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5 or more years of accounting experience 
  • Retail real estate management experience preferred
  • “Big Four” or national accounting firm experience or Real Estate experience preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and their application
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and take ownership of processes and results
  • Proficient with MRI, Kardin, and Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
