Staff Accountant - Avalon

Overview of Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Staff Accountant will provide entry-level administrative and financial support services. The position works closely with other accounting personnel, internal departments, and external parties.

Duties and Responsibilities

In order to perform daily duties and responsibilities, the Staff Accountant - Avalon must:

  • Download check images from bank sites and prepare cash receipts batches on a daily basis
  • Provide invoice coding or review coding done by other members of the team
  • Process vendors invoices and know the process from keying to approving for payment on a weekly basis
  • Assist in analyzing revenue and expenses, receivable, payables, and accruals
  • Assist in preparing journal entries into the general ledger
  • Assist in preparing balance sheet accounts reconciliations including cash accounts, receivables, payables, accruals, and debt obligations
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual supporting schedules leading to operational reports to ownership
  • Assist and collaborate in preparation of annual budgets and reforecasts and related schedules and analysis
  • Assist and collaborate in preparation of annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM), Insurance, and Real Estate Taxes reconciliations
  • Assist and collaborate in performance and financial audits including Financial Audits, Tenant Sales Audits, Operational Performance Audits, Regulatory audits and others as necessary
  • Assist and collaborate in special projects and other responsibilities as assigned, often of an urgent nature

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree – business or accounting preferred, but experience in commercial real estate accounting is valued
  • 2 or more years of accounting experience preferably in commercial/mixed use real estate accounting
  • Must have experience in commercial accounting software, preferably MRI
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
